thanks darren!! :) the fact that you dig those bugs simply shows that i'm waaay too hard on myself! ;) to be honest, i'm not a huge fan of drawing bugs; it actually bugged me to draw them believe it or not! *groan* it was as painful sketching them as it was to read that intended pun i just wrote. :P
thanks dan!! :) yeah, it gave me a wee bit of eyestrain you could say! ;) the first step was cleaning up most of what was left over from the original pencil work (hb tech pencil), smudges etc.. before the final scan, i noticed the illustration didn't have enough contrast so i added highlights (& touchups) with white acrylic paint, and simultaneously darkened the contour lines around all of the significant elements with black ink (0.3 copic mulit liner) marker. after i scanned it in i created one layer which was a solid chunk of green and did a reverse colouring job with the eraser tool, then fiddled with the levels etc., until i was happy. ;)
now that i'm staring at it i'm kicking myself for not noticing small details that i could have/should have fixed, or simply altered because they would have made more sense in a slightly different position (the snakes mouth/jaw area [left vs right side]), but alas, it is what it is (a freakin cartoon for crying out loud! lol) and most people wouldn't pick up on that shit anyhow. ;) lol... we are our worst critics are we not?! i could go on tearing it apart, but why bother at this point. :P *sigh* thanks for taking time to comment; i definitely pride myself on the detail, and i have my ocd to thank for that! ;) :) :D
